I have this on my Land Rover forum and it's fun to read, just list something you did to your boat, I will start it off.

Today I took one of my NOS fenders and tied a couple lines to it to measure how long I would need and it came out at 6', then I sat in the sun and looked at them and the ocean and islands, that is all!

Re:What did you do to your boat today? 9 years 9 months ago #104081

I looked at pictures of my boat(s) when the grass was green, the trees had leaves and it as 70 degrees warmer.... it's 8 degrees right now !

BTW... I finally figured out why the best looking boats are way up north in WI, MN. and other northern states ?
They are preserved in glacial ice forms like the woooly mammoth and every once in awhile, you frozen northerns have nothing better to do than chip one of those finned classics out of the ice !!!

Re:What did you do to your boat today? 9 years 9 months ago #104101

Well I didn't do much today except look at them, a rather sad sight sitting there with a foot of snow on them, with the wind blowing snow devils over them. Good thing my friend Bob came down yesterday to help me take the lower unit off the Hydrocon. We kicked back about a foot of snow behind the boat, put down a big piece of cardboard, untied all the ropes to loose the tarp, fired up Bob's propane heater, and went in to warm up. While in the house Bob helped me resize a couple more pics for the Hydrocon thread here. We went back to the boat tools in hand and in about 10 minutes had the lower laying on the cardboard with all the bolts, screws, gaskets, ect laying there. Sure would have made a great pic, I seem to have misplaced my camera. Good thing the job went well, we had -2* for a high here in north woods Wis.lol. gene

P.S. Bill Anderson not only bought many, he saved, restored, and gave a second life to many. Most look better than new. His collection has brought many new people to this boat rescue craziness, and I am one.

I messed around with my 30hp 1956 Johnson after market starter. Please see the post on Johnson Evinrude site.
Yesterday.... took my dog for an hour ride in my Evinrude Explorer on Lake Mead. It was almost 70...sorry.

See even with tons of snow and cold we still carry on this craziness, it keeps us sane, at least it does me, great to hear large and small what we do waiting for spring.

looked out the back door at a snow covered tarp..and thought, i cant wait for the warm weather to get back to work.. i need to replace my floor. and mount and rig my new motor.. and it's 8* out side right now.. and in the 20's during the day.. so all i can do is gather materials and wait for warmer weather..i did cut & make all new seat bottoms before covering it up for the winter..so im going to cover them and have them ready for the spring when i uncover it..

Putting the finishing touches on a pair of 58' Sea King outboards.
Visited the local Graphics Shop to have the " ELECRTIC STARTING 35 "

Its not a classic but I cannot start work on my 1965 G3 until I finish redoing my 1987 smokercraft fishing boat. Tonight my son and I finished riveting in the transom , we have removed every rib and chine from the bottom then used aircraft sealer and wet installed every rivet in the bottom . Hope it will be a long time before any come loose and leak.

Nice to see everyone busy waiting for spring.
I have been trying to locate a lower end for my Mercury 450, also found a cool cache of vintage water skis just an hour drive away so heading there tomorrow, $10 to $40 each and she has 90. You never know what collections people have, we will see what my legacy will be.

Man, I wish I could find some old Adirondack skis like my Dad used to ski on. I remember they were stained wood with red stripes and white bindings on them.jim

Clecos, lots of clecos. Did you use 1422 or 1435? Shoot AD rivets?

Used 1422 and some 1730 and the rivets were from Spanaur a soft 1100 A rivet. Just finished applying a coat of gluvit to the bottom and have the heaters cranked to 80 . Hope to prep and put a couple coats of polyurethane on it tomorrow.
