1982 Checkmate Diplomat

A restoration of my grandfather's Dorsett Catalina.

1965 Northcraft V172. Mercury 1000 with late '70s Johnson 9.9 kicker. Owned since 2007, had been repaired and painted in 2009. Spent 40 years as a cottage boat on lakes north of Kingston Ontario. Last 10 years on Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence River, now calls Thunder Bay on Lake Superior home.

Classic Bell Boy Ballerina Runabout boat made by American Marine Industries in Tacoma Washington in 1967. This is a twin to the Sabre Craft Wildcat with the legendary Sabre Craft/Bell Boy design and build quality including Web-Cor fiberglass stringers. The boat is very solid and seaworthy while it shows a patina that highlights a half century of fun times. It is turnkey ready and has everything needed for fun times on the water with plenty of power to easily pull skis, wakeboards, tubes, etc.

We have had this in our family for over 27 years and I have done so much work on it. I have had my shares of learning opportunities with it with the budget limitations. It is now my retirement project when I have time to work on it but for now will still tinker with it to keep it going.

1958 black shark body, rebuilt in 1992, 96, 2007, pimped in 2021

This is simply amazing. The Batboat (black redfish) was on display at EAA Airventure. Person left note about selling a similar boat. Turns out, it was in storage at a former redfish dealership, having NEVER BEEN SOLD. No kidding, I bought a brand-new 1958 beluga hardtop in 2014. Gifted it to an officianato who never touched or registered it. He got dementia, so I recorded the lease and just gifted it to another friend in WI. Imagine a brand-new boat fromm1958 getting registered for the first time 63 YEARS AFTER MFG. All true. The back story is even weirder- The former dealers got kicked off my display dock . I wasn't present.. Later that week, I received a post-it with "earle- ###-###-####" . Placed in wallet. 2 yrs later, got new wallet, tossed postit. Saw in trash later, called #. 21 questions and voila. A brand new stored boat, sight unseen in N VT. Drove 100 miles to see it, brought to lucky recipient unbenounced. Never touched, released it to another buddy. All true, amazing.

I want to find one of these to restore

Bought this boat for a few hundred dollars when I was a younger man. Ran the hell out of it on the South Western shores of Lake Erie and the Maumee River. Not knowing much about outboard marine engine maintennance, the 1957 Evinrude Big Twin 35 she came with developed problems in the lower unit and having just gotten married at about that time I just let it sit. After so many years, my interest in the boat has been reignited, most of the work to overhaul what the engine needed is complete and now it's time to move on to fixing everything wrong with the boat. I have no reference to what she may have looked like brand new. So any help with information on that would be much appreciated. She'll need a new windshield, seats, deck and paint.
