This is our small wood runabout we have been using for the past 23 years, her name is "Aloha" She has a metal tag that says "Johnson Matched Unit Boat and Motor" at the bows. The registration has a date of 1933, but I don't know if that is accurate. We have been powering her with a 1983 9.9 HP Honda four stroke outboard. This engine has been a dream and pushes her nicely.
We have pulled her to Vermont, Conn., New Hampshire, and the small lake here at home. A lot of family fun has been had in this little boat, particularly at Lake Dunmore, Vermont just south of Middlebury.
I have not posted in a long time, our 1964 MFG Niagara project is at a stand still, however last summer I overhauled the ignition system on the 1960 Johnson 40 HP outboard and replaced the impeller, rebuilt the carb and fuel pump and changed hoses. Hope to pick up on it again next year
Thanks,
Mike

Beautiful boat Mike! A 25 on her and I'll bet she'll really move nicely! ;)

Thank you Bob. Yes, a larger outboard wouldn't hurt any!
With three passengers it does want a little more, but when I'm alone it's very good.
Thanks,
Mike

PS- I wonder what HP outboard Johnson originally sold with this boat??

mfgwiz,

Johnson made a 2.8, 4.1, 9,2, 13.3, 21.4 & a 26 HP OB that year. - I don't know how you would find out for sure unless the Smithsonian's Maritime Collection, the Mariner's Museum or Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (or another similar place) might have the documentation.

satx,
Thanks for the info. I confess to not doing my homework to find out more history. Too busy just enjoying her!
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks for the responces guys. This boat means a great deal to us, but also look forward to getting the '64 MFG Niagara going and on the water. Here's one last shot of her with my son.
Thanks,
Mike
