I am refinishing my wife's lovely classic runabout, the C-Rea. It is a mid fifties Custom Craft, a popular kit boat company. I have not had to refinish it for some tie as the finish has stood up pretty good. I keep it in the water in the summer but keep it covered. It is garaged in the winter. I sanded the existing finish and prepared it as best as possible. I put 2 coats of Spar varnish on and am just finishing up the final wet 600 sanding.
This is where I need the advice. As I understand it, I will add one more thin coat of varnish, dry and buff. I will then come back and tape the lines and paint.
Is this correct? What tape do I use and is it sill One-Shot sign paint for the lines?
Thanks for all your help.

Cool!

Please post some more pictures when you are done, and if you don't mind, you could share on Nickle City Classic's Custom Craft Page:

I found the greatest help on refinishing an old woody here: www.vintageraceboatshop.com/Stain-Varnish.htm really a step by step with great pics. Here is the C-Rea with the third of 12 coats, Epifanes Gloss Spar Varnish.

She's coming along nicely! I put 12 coats of Epiphanes on my Wagemaker Clipper.
