TOPIC: Chevrolet head identification

Hello, looking to see if anyone would be able to help me identify the casting mark on these heads .(camel humps ? ) .the block # 3737739 identifies as 1957 283 220 h.p. The only # I see on the head is 58 x , where would I look for head# ? Thanks in advance for any help

Here is a good site for Chevy ID. I'm not a huge Chevy guy but the casting numbers for the heads should be located under the valve covers between the first and second cyl.

Those aren't "camel hump" heads. Pull the valve cover and post the casting number that you'll see between the valve springs. Theres also a casting date there. Its alpha-numeric. Post that too.

That is correct. These are not "camel hump" heads, but they are very early heads, since they do not have the mounting pads or the mounting holes for front-mount accessories. The casting number should be about the center of the head, under the valve cover.
