Miss Bettye is a mystery boat. We don't know who built her or when. The hull is plywood and the topsides looked to be interior pine grooved paneling. That has been changed to mahogany planking. I particularly like how the waterline was taped-off many years ago, painted and left that way, tape and all. The bottom needed to be replaced so we just covered the original with 1/4" marine meranti completely bedded in 3M 5200. The hull is way too far gone to stain so we'll paint her Hatteras white. Here are some progress shots. Stay tuned for her debut.

Most excellent as usual. The bling is really going to set it off. Do you have a vintage motor to install?

Chuck:

You're more than welcome but I'm 150 miles from Columbia...and that's a serious side trip. But, if you still want to make the trip, just let me know when you're likely to arrive so I'll be sure to be here.

Well 150 mile side trip is better than a drive from Cincinnati. I land in Columbia 1:20-ish. google map says 2 hour 30 min from Columbia.
So I'm looking at 4:00 pm ? If that's not good for you, I still have 2 more trips to Summerville every 21 days till Thanksgiving. And Thank You !

Miss Bettye is finished. Now all I have to do is make sense of the old Mercury motor and get her looking new.

I had the the opportunity to meet the great one. Mr. Nautilus himself. His attention to detail and to make something beautiful multi-steps above beautiful is amazing ! The smell of the fresh varnish on Miss Bettye was awesome. Both Jan and his wife went all out to make me feel welcome. And he taught me a lot of tricks to help me work on my project that I'm too afraid to work on.
It was so worth trip to meet him and his wife. Thank you so much !!!
