Nice trailer. I hate working on trailers!
That stern pole looks somewhat extreme, is it original length or does the owner want to fly holiday colors? Other than that, beautiful work as always. GM 350? single exhaust. |

Yep OUTSTANDING job as always Jan!!! I'm with Cal on the stern pole, flying a pretty big Ensign with that thing! Definitely not original. lol

Yeah...that stern pole is way up in the clean air but it came with the boat and mounts into the fitting perfectly. The engine is the original Chris Craft/Hercules flathead, single exhaust.

That stern pole is not easy to duplicate. If it's what I think it looks like it's oval on the bottom with a special top for the light. Had to make one for my '63 Century using two pieces of African mahogany glued together but had to route a slot in both halves to accommodate the wires running up inside then lots of planning and shaping. A lathe can't do that.

You are correct about the shape and difficulty in replacing a stern pole like that. I had to build a tapered mast for the 1940 Elco in the same way, only 16' long!

Yep that's definitely a by hand operation! Lucky for me the '53 Resorter has the round tapered pole.
One came with the boat thank goodness, I have enough crap to do! lolBob |
