Here's one I stumbled on today. It's a rock solid unmolested original, pretty rare, turn key ready to use and I got it fairly cheap. It's all wood but the gold color is actually vinyl...very different. I guess I'm just a sucker for vintage inboard V8s.

The cruiser is just sitting for now. It's in the open air boathouse and I'm too busy with the Dee Wite and too much of a sissy to work out in the cold. Things were going great for awhile. I remade the entire windshield, the cabin door, the helm...and then I ran into the bad keel and chines. That's tough work for an old man with no help. I'll get back to it in the Spring.

Is that the one that was on E-bay a few weeks ago? I know the feeling if I could find one for the right price and the right model I would have one,well....maybe a few lol.
Great find and good luck with it.

No...this is a different one. I found it locally in Upstate SC.

Jan, Nice find on the CC. The Century Saber had simulated vinyl on the gunwales, I put the real stuff on when I rebuilt it and found out that if someone or something drops, hits, nicks or otherwise "molests" it ya get a small triangle tear. Dock bumping is out of the question!
Was going to ask about the cruiser. I think you last post about it solicited a few comments about the leaky keel and a Bondo fix.

I got her home and out in the sunlight. There were only 50 made in 1964. This one is #5 and is an unmolested original. Not bad for being 52 years old! She needs a little gussying-up but mechanically, she's ready to drop in the water and go.

WOW! Looks almost showroom condition. A little "spiffin'" and she's a show winner.

The engine is a 283 but that's plenty of power. CC claimed 40 MPH with the 283; 45 MPH with the 327. I don't really need that extra 5 MPH. The engine starts at a touch and idles beautifully. Bonus: She has the optional factory fiber-glassed bottom. They must have known what they were doing. It's looks perfect. This boat was always hung in boathouses it's entire life. I'm only the third owner. I put it up for sale in the Glassifieds but plan to play with it this summer if not sold. Can't keep everything.

IMHO the 283's are one of the best engines ever built.

Jan, that is a great boat and a bargain for someone who wants to get into the hobby for a very reasonable price. We have a golden arrow here on our lake although it is not as nice as yours. Great find! How does it handle?

I haven't had the boat out on the lake yet. We have some health issues here and it's been raining for days. Besides, it's cold and I'm a sissy. I'm going to give her a good paint job and buff before we launch.
