TOPIC: 1961 Priwing Thunderbolt

1961 Priwing Thunderbolt 9 years 7 months ago #109846

Greetings all,

New to the forum and finally got my feet properly wet in the wood world. I picked up at 14' Priwing from Bill Wingo's grandson. Just here to share knowledge and learn as much as I can. Oddly enough, my grandfather built all those Priwings and I am the first one in the family to own one....

Looking forward to getting her squared away and wet later this summer.

Looks like she's in pretty good shape. What are your plans for it?

She has a few things that need some TLC, cleats rechromed, the deck has been sanded, sealed and poly applied. I need to do some digging into that and see if I want to varnish the rest of the hull or poly that as well. She needs some joints sealed here and there. I have found a guy to go through the Evinrude for me and hopefully get that running. I have all the steering and throttle controls just have to route them. I definitely plan on using her. Some decent sized lakes in North East PA and I have a friend with a house on the water on Md's Eastern shore.

Considering making some replacement benches that I won't feel horrible about upholstering... Ill just store the originals.

Other than possibly a hide-a-way panel with a VHF comm and a radio and maybe the upholstery work I want her to be as original and period correct as possible.

I have a pair of Priwing emblems which are new and never installed. See attachment.

I am looking for the next owner and someone who will be able to use them properly.

If interested, please email:
