What I do is have Fastsigns make me a neg. I then put it on my boat and fill in making sure to leave a few bush lines in the paint. I will even some times make sure that there is a very small brush marks at the end of a few straight runs.

I will remove the Neg after it dries. Many have asked who is my sign painter

One boat I had them have shadows for the letters and #s

Fashsigns Always gives me the cutouts anyway for they are charging me for the Pos and am giving me what they throw away

Thats a great idea wit the negative. Do you use heat to take off the decal so it won't bring up the paint or varnish?

They use the cheapest vinyl they have. Something like contact paper

Duh. We even cut vinyl (decal/tshirt biz) and for some reason I didn't even think of that. Ours are hand painted by the PO but the boat needs a repaint and I was sweating being able to do as good of a job. Sweet. One minor detail to cross of the list of things to worry about!!
