TOPIC: molded plywood boat

i have a strange looking molded plywood outboard runabout i have been trying to restore.i cant seem to find what kind it is, been searching the net for a while. all i know is that the old owner was at the age of 95 and told me it came from a us mold,it has very old looking lines,as to be late thirtys or earky fortys i would say. will try post pictures,thanks Joe

There was a US Molded Shapes in Michigan that made molded plywood hulls ?

1st, WELCOME ABOARD.

Presuming that the boat was FACTORY-built, rather than built on commission by an independent, photos here may help someone identify the actual builder.
Otoh, you may NEVER know, as there were HUNDREDS of wood boat builders prior to 1970.

Many of those "small & independent builders" bought bare hulls from a "hull-molding company" & completed those bare hulls to their customer's desires. Numerous such companies did NOT mark their boats.

Joe welcome aboard and yes pics please, it will make it much easier. SATX is right there were many companies doing that. once you post the pics we can help more.

My dad built a kit boat from US Molded Plywood in 1959. The hull was pre-formed and all of the mahogany to finish the boat was shipped along with it. He had a Merc Mark 59 A on it and we got about 30 mph. When that threw a rod I came across a newer 50 hp Merc. The boat was about 15 1/2 ft long. I will attach a picture. I have all of the paperwork he used to order it someplace and will try to find it if you are interested.
