TOPIC: Tee Nee Shock Absorbers

Tee Nee Shock Absorbers 10 years 10 months ago #90042

I pulled these two shocks off my project, and feel that replacements are in order, as there is hardly any resistance left on one of them in particular.

One looks a bit different too, with a flare to the upper bell, so one or the other must have been replaced at some time?

I cannot make out a make or model on either one.

Any suggestions for a currently available replacement?

Thanks MarkS, I had tried the "search Forum" function at the top of the page, but I couldn't seem to bring anything up. I must be doing something wrong?

You're welcome Bill, glad to help. I use the "advanced search" feature and narrowed it down to the Trailer Talk forum. (My selective memory recalled the conversation, funny how that works sometimes and other times not so much!) Also, sometimes you have to play with the words you put into the search box; ie - shock, shock absorber, Tee Nee shock, etc...

You will want them about 9 inches collapsed and 13 extended. Make sure you get the right (round) top and bottom. Also you will need the spacers that are now in you old shocks.
If you have difficult in finding them email I my be able to help. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Thanks Herters59,
I followed MarkS' info link, and bought a pair of MONROE 33076UMM.
They seem to have the dimensions you mention, and have round holes top & bottom.
Also noticed that I will have to use the old hardware to stand off the shocks from the frame.

I assume that the little metal collars inside the new shocks will just press out, and are not fused to the rubber ?
Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks again Guys,

Bill.

If memory serves me right, I had to change the top mounts to s/s bolts, as I couldn't find a shock that fit exactly

Re-used old hardware 10 years 9 months ago #90355

Today I pushed the new to-short collar out, using the original longer bolt & its collar.
Put a little oil on the old collar, still a good snug fit.
One step operation, and we're good to go.

Thanks for the info & ideas guys,

Bill.
