TOPIC: painting aluminum

i want to repaint the bottom of my aluminum boat.what prep work needs to be done to make sure the paint holds ? it has been painted once before.i`m going to sand it back to bear metal .what kind of primer?

You can buy the self etching primer. and you want to prime it as soon as possable after you get it down to bare matal. Alumimum starts to ozadize as soon as it hits the air.
