i visit this seller quite often...usually has some good looking classics....

this one i was hoping wouldn't sell...and would have been relisted at a little less $$

Matt,

Rawhide is a non profit org and most of the donations are rough. Some are used in the shops to teach the kids a trade.

You live in Illinois and that is where you will find most Switzers (Lake Geneva also). Just remember they are a balsa core hull and may very well be water logged or rotten. My advise is find the needle in a haystack even if you have to pay more. There is a lot of work & cost to recoring a hull.

Some models are tough to find. My favorite is the 17 super sport. I think it is easily one of the prettiest boats ever made. Mine gets plenty of looks, and most people think it is new.
On recoring, it is time consuming but not so bad. The new oscillating tools make it easier. I recommend not to recore, but to glass with reinforcing ribs. The result is a little heavier, but there is nothing to fail again later. We use cut pvc pipe, which we glass over for the reinforcement.
