New to the site. 7 years 10 months ago #130312

Hello all! I am new to the site and thought I would share my boat it's a
1972 Glasspar 175 cutlass. I am in the process of getting it "sea" worthy.
Has anyone owned one of these before? any pointers? I have only had it for
About 2 weeks but love the boat it's exactly my style.

Welcome aboard! Glasspar man. I have never own a cutluss, I personally have a seafair sedan. What I can tell you is your boat was built by Larson boat company as they had bought glasspar sometime in the late 60s ( I think 1967).
I do like your boat as it is orange, and an IO that thing should really get up and go. As for advise specific questions would help, as the possible answers are nearly endless.

I've got no help on the Glasspar specifically, but it's great to see another "classic" tri hull on the board! Welcome!

Welcome to Fiberglassics!

Cool color, reminds me of a Creamsicle!

So what's lurking under the engine cover, Mercruiser, OMC, Volvo-Penta??

Love the Orange!! I couldn't tell if the color was "Hazing" from sun fade in some areas. If you want to bake it shine again, the pros here have a few methods of doing a professional job of buffing/polishing...because I do not have the talent for that, I tried a product called Flitz. You can look it up and also watch Youtube videos of it. This may not be the way a true boat care pro would do it, but for me with no experience, I did one application by hand like Karate Kid...Rub on, then rub and clean off (wax on, wax-off). I got the results I wanted (took my chalky hazy look and turned it into a shine). Even worked easier on my Jeep headlights that I had previously done with 3M...the 3Mworked great with its 3 or 4 step process...but that took 20 minutes. This took one application and looked as good to me and was only a minute or so. Just a thought...get a sample pack and try it where you might have a seat cushion go over so it can be covered and see if you like the results?

My friend had an Orange Crestliner I/O from '73 and it would grab all of the attention at the lake! Have fun with your unique machine!!
