TOPIC: 1970's Chrysler Hydro-vee

1970's Chrysler Hydro-vee 8 years 1 month ago #126287

I picked up this 1970's Chrysler Hydro-vee the other day for next to nothing. It's gutted but I think it's a great looking hull with lots of potential. It's about 18' long and the bow is covered with space for a double bunk. The ID plate says it's a model 450 and the maximum HP is 140. I can't find a hull number, year or model name. Can anyone help out in that department? And does anyone have any opinions on the Hydro-vees - they seem like a great design? I also have a 23' Hydro-vee with twin Volvo 4 cylinder gas engines but haven't got it in the water yet.

That is cathedral, isn't it.

Hydro vee's used to be Charger models. Stable and soft even in modern standard's. Cathedrals gave stable ride, but not so soft ride.

I like it. Interesting design. I've had several wide(er) boats like that. Some call them "cathedral" others call them tri-hulls. I guess it's a matter of semantics. Tri hulls had a bad rap with people saying they were rough riders, I never had a bad experience in any of the ones owned. They are very stable.
Enjoy your new find.

Sorry. Click the link, scroll down until you see Boat Brocures on the left and click. Click 1970 and scroll down to the Crown.

Thanks for the Chrysler link! Yes, I believe it's an early 70's Crown model. Now to find the hull number....
