TOPIC: Eaton Powernaut stern drive on Thompson

Just obtained a 1963 Thompson Bros. Boat Mfg. Co. 20'-4" Off-Shore Deluxe stern drive wooden lapstrake boat. She's a big rig. Need a ladder to get in and out of the boat! She has a Chrysler inboard engine with Eaton Marine Powernaut outdrive. Outdrive was made by Eaton Manufacturing Company at Saginaw, Michigan.

The rig has been sitting outside for 8 years or so. Lots of rot in the boat. Who knows if the engine will turn over or if the outdrive is any good.

This is a "one day" project. No, it will take more than one day to finish, but it is one that I will tackle "one day" in the future!

Oh, there is a hole in the hull compliments of what I beleive to be the fork of a fork lift!

Anyone know about inboard engines? This rig has a Chrysler straight 6, model 225AYALX serial number 80503. What is the horse power?

The Mopar website for slant 6 Chrysler's indicated this is 145 HP.

I wonder if a more modern MerCruiser or Volvo outdrive can be attached to this engine? The transom is shot and has to be replaced. So the hole size is really not an issue. Just a thought.
