My original owner's manual specifies OMC Sea-lube, whatever that is, and I seriously doubt that it's still available. So what do you use? The manual specifically reads do NOT use 90 wt gear oil. Someone told me to use outboard motor oil. I don't want to guess. Help!

If you are asking what gear lube to use in that Dual Deluxe, you need "Type C"

The "modern" equivalent to "Type C" is called "Evinrude Johnson Premium Blend". It's compatible with electric-shift L/U's.
With Bombardier ceasing manufacture of Evinrude outboards, the supplies are drying-up. Still stocked by some dealers and aftermarket sellers. Some is still for sale on eBay. P/N 775609 for a quart bottle.

Sierra Marine also sells their version of this oil, here's a bunch of that for sale on eBay:

https://www. ebay .com /sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=Sierra+18-9620&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=0&_odkw=Sierra18-9620

You'll have to take the spaces out of the link, this site still parses eBay links.

Walmart sells the Sierra stuff, too: www.walmart.com/ip/Sierra-18-9620-2-Type-C-Gear-Lube-1-Quart/32925901

Better stock up, it ain't getting any cheaper!

Thanks...I already ordered three quarts of the Sierra. No need for me to stock up though. This is for a customer's boat and I'll never work on a vintage OMC outdrive again. Every single part is obsolete and expensive when you finally find it. In the future, I'll stick to Mercruisers and inboards.

I don't blame ya! I rebuilt an old ball-drive OMC outdrive years ago, and vowed to never work on one again! They truly are a pain, especially if you aren't used to working on one. The only thing worse I ever worked on was a Force "L-Drive", which was nick-named "Hell Drive" because it was the worst-designed, hardest-to-work-on, most unreliable marine small propulsion unit you've ever messed with. What a piece of trash, it certainly earned its name! The early Cobra outdrives were junk, too. I should know, I had one in a Seaswirl Spyder with a 4.3 V6. Great boat, excellent engine, lousy outdrive! Worst-shifting unit ever. Tons of fiddly, expensive parts. What's not to like!!

Where is your adventure? I like those Fossil Drives.
I just ordered a new 5 gallon pail of Sierra type C from Summit Racing. Best pricing I can find.
