TOPIC: 1969 mercury 60 hp

1969 mercury 60 hp 11 years 10 months ago #74384

There is a 1969 mercury 60 hp for sale in the wisconsin janesville craigslist. I never even know that mercury even made a 60hp before 1984. Sorry I don't know how to post the link for it. If any one could tell me how to post a link I would really appreciate it. I have windows 7 if that makes a differance.

..J.F. Here is your LINK janesville.craigslist.org/boa/3614448394.html I think it is quite High $$ for that HP range. I have three 65 hp from mid 60' to early 70's . This looks like also four cyl . maybe just de-tune 65 version or smaller prop size / spline .??

mouse CLICK on the TOP address bar of ad. (Will see BLUE color ) ,
RIGHT click mouse , Click " COPY" .... toggle over or back to
Fiber-Glassics . cursor into your post ,, RIGHT click mouse ,
select PASTE........... Clear as mud..! Sorry for delay..
.... NICE GLASTRON. Just found CVX 16 , Saturday, will sample
my rebuilt 80 & trim.

J.F. You are correct in the HP / Year match-up . I pulled out the
SELOC manual & 1984 & up had a THREE cyl 60 hp..We see four plug
wires & decals from seller show 600 - Four . No mention in the manual all 65 hp size..Could have been a marketing / coast guard gimmic where certain size boat had a MAX 60 hp rating tag, & I believe the 50 hp MERC were still short shaft .. I have a 73 shortie 50 hp ..?? Good trivia question .thou.

It's an 80hp design in 60hp clothes! You can tell by the intake port covers, it's a "Direct Charge" cross-flow design with deflector pistons, just like the 1150 and 1350 of similar vintage.

Sure would be interesting to find out the backstory of those "600" decals, they look factory original.

And those PT&T rams are something else, never seen any like that! Maybe they actually were special racing pieces, as the seller describes.

Cheers.......ed

..ED, Your would make a Good Cop . You have my vote of the day.
I have the same 80 hp block in my garage & thought something looked familiar last night.. I call it the Waffle Iron block, &
is different side ports than the 65 hp. My rack pic below of four
/ four cyl , I could also build up / assemble a cross clone.
The wrap BAND can latch around any block . The lower decal is
exhaust cowl housing piece. Also any top hat , or repro decal
can be applied anyplace after painting.. Wonder what serial #
this seller is quoting .??? Can have any Pan or mid section
serial #... Tell the seller it is a parts motor & offfer $ 400 .!!
