Back in the 60's-70's my Grandfather bought a new Caddy every two or three years, biggest motor I knew of then was a 472 cid. ?

You are correct mopar...500 was largest until 71-72 when they actually made a monster....578! Cady always loved their "big power" in high school I had a 73 Toronado w/a 455 and front wheel drive, my friend had an older eldo w/a500 think it was a 69.
But back to this boat...a "stock" 555 was never made.. if it is a 578 its about as rare as the boat its sitting in! Never seen one in person heard about only one in a motor home in the 70's
