That is pretty cool indeed!
The old Sid-Craft was a pretty well designed hydro back in the day.
I would have had to have it about (40) years ago, but it makes my bones hurt just looking at it today!

the boat does seem to lack some basic creature comforts - like a padded seat or even a seat at all!!

From the look of that picture it appeared that you were about to catch some air!!

How fast would the 35 hp push one of those? I would imagine it would be pretty fast since the boat and driver would be close to the same weight.

Definitely tough on the knees! You need a nice, thick cushion to kneel on, for sure. With a standard lower unit, it wouldn't go as fast as a racer but it certainly should do well in excess of 40mph with the right prop.

Back in the 80's I picked up a 9-1/2" flat-bottom "knee knocker" with a stock MK25 Merc powerhead on a Hydroshort racing mid-section/lower unit. It would go 44mph on Tiger Lake with busted rings (as I later found out!). I rebuilt the motor along with a 50hp carb & some "tuning" on the intake and it was a beast in the barrel, although I never got to run it on the boat.

A couple of years ago some Scumbags broke into my garage and guess what they stole, that motor! A real P*sser for sure! I do have something else power the boat so maybe one of these days; I'll just have to get a lot of padding for my old, aching knees!

At any rate, that's a really good deal for the boat & motor. Looks like it's set up very nicely and probably ready-to-run.

It was about 1974.
A Mark 58A on a Mark 30 pan, on a Mark 20H driveshaft housing and quicky foot.
I think the prop was a 2 blade stainless 13P.
