Curse - not too far from me. I could snatch it up and you can retrieve at your convenience from Green Bay, or I could meet you in Chicago with it sometime in the future. Do you want the boat or the Merc's? I would be interested in the Merc on the rack, but I need another boat like a hole in the head.

Just let me know, and you can get to horse trading with the guy on CL

The motor on the stand is locked up.
I thought maybe we could go in on it together and each get a motor but that doesn't sound so good anymore.
He was also told the motors are 1959 and 1961

No problem!!! I need to run down to La Crosse in the coming weeks to pick up a Merc 850. I could make a total road trip of it and pick up the boat and motor and then swing through La Crosse to pick up the 850.

We just need to make sure that the tires / bearings are good on the trailer!!! That is a fair amount of highway time for a trailer that has been sitting. Make sure to ask when you are horse trading. I can probably bring spares depending on the tire size.

just let me know what works

Curse - one more thing - If its a deal make sure they have a way to load the unmounted 1000 and everything else into the boat. Whether it is a bunch of strong guys or a cherry picker, we will need to plan ahead. If they have a cherry picker that would be great, but I could potentially get my hands on one for the ride down. I will definitely be using it for the unloading.

Curse - I really don't need the 1000 right now. I was hoping it was a project that I could work on and get running again - guess i hit the jackpot!! Not super happy it is siezed, but if you can swing a cheap deal I will pick it up and run around if you give me the siezed one. And maybe a beer or two!!

Just let me know what will work. It is it too bad I can just part it out and make back the gas money.

Curse,

Just saw the messages - no problem with pick-up Friday night, and we could potentially meet up Sat 7/02. Take a look at your messages and let me know what you set up. I will be on the water the next 3-4 hours and not have access to my phone.

We should be able to get something to work!!!!

If it matters,...And if the decals are correct,...
The one on the boat is a '68 or '69 1000ss long shaft, and the one on the stand is a '65 1000 long shaft.
The '65 has the dual point + dual coil ignition, and the 1000ss has the solid state ignition.

Unfortunately he wants to keep the boat with the ss on it since he got it running. Can the 65 be easily converted to short shaft?

Karma for Kyle after a successful Merc hunting trip!! Kyle - you make him an offer on the boat and motor he will probably take it. He wanted to wash his hands of the entire project, but he doesn't want to just sell you the motor and then have an empty hull he can't get rid of. I am sure that someone on FG will be up for a free Larson boat for a project!!

Well, I held out and am now driving an hour away to pick up a 950ss. Which is cool since that's what my boat is rated!

Glad you found what you were looking for!! I was just in the garage looking at the 2 Mercs and wishing I had time to work on them. Couple more weeks and I should be ready to go. Can't wait - gotta get back to studying though

No. I may go back and get it but I was hoping to find an SS. I guess I can always find a solid state ignition system for it later.

I should have just picked up the 1000 from you since I might have to swap ignition systems anyways. If he will lower the price I will go get it.
