I know most older boats don't hold much value, but this sounds really cheap to me. greensboro.craigslist.org/boa/5047159178.html

Sounds like the guy really needs to get rid of it quick. How old?

Judging by the dated looking interior trim and fixtures I'd guess that the boat is from the late 70's to early 80's. Boats of that type and style when they age are really hard to get rid of, most people who want that type of boat can afford a newer one and people looking to spend $3800.00 are unlikely to want that style of boat. It is though one heck of a deal for someone who can look past the outdated look and see the real value in a well built trailerable cruiser.

Al, that's what's so great about our glassics. They have done and gone out of style and came back to be COOLER than ever. :)

It's a pretty decent bang for the buck. 68 hours is no time at all for a used boat, especially one that old. (I'm guessing about 1988) Keep in mind that anyone asking $3,800 will almost certainly take $3,500. The engine, outdrive and trailer are worth at least that much. If you're serious, flash the cash and have him take you for a shakedown cruise. If all goes well and that's the type/size boat you're looking for, you should probably buy it. If you take care of it, there's a good chance you could get all your money back if you sell it five years from now.

Well, for one thing ya need a decent tow pig, a slip as towing and launching for a W/E is not worth the effort. And its always something a I/O. PITA to work on, suck gas, and as been there, done that, and glad I sold mine even if I live on the water (HOA) and have a 26 ft slip. Thing is those with the money and have a slip will pay way more for a real runner thats maintained or new.

Big old boats are hard to sell and that "deal" will turn into a headache/money pit fast. I learned the hard way and never again. I'll stick with my 20ft and under 4 boats. WITH OUTBOARDS!
