That's one of the best versions of the old V4, it has the heavier-duty electric shift gearcase, and with an upgraded ignition (points with a hi-performance car coil), and inline fuel filter or fuel-separator installed, will be extremely reliable and an excellent performer.

Years ago we tweaked on my buddy's old 90hp V4 until it ran perfectly and was almost as fast as my Merc 1000. Note I said "almost"! Mine would always pull ahead and outrun him, when he was tilted out to the max and losing water pressure!

That 100hp V4 probably would "smoke" the 1000 and be much quieter doing it. It should absolutely rip on that hull, it's a nice-looking classic rig with excellent lines.
