YEP. - ImVho, a "relatively complete" 1950s hull (as this example seems to be) is LITTLE more trouble to restore than the typical "run-down"/"as found" boat, as in my experience EVERYTHING has to "come off" & be repaired/replaced/refinished anyway, including "popping the deck"/replacing ALL of the wooden parts/replacing the interior/refinishing everything.
(Fwiw, my old "kindergarten chum", DonnaJo Smith-Ward & her husband, bought TWO classic glass boats/trailers in the last 3 years & kept excellent records of the "out of pocket" restoration costs. = One rig cost 600.oo & she paid 50.oo for the other boat/trailer. - After they completed both rigs, the difference in restoration cost was LESS than 35.oo.)

Note: Too bad that the '57 Redfish is so far away, as I know several "addicts" of antique/classic TEXAS-BUILT boats.

You're right. Most boats needing restoration "have everything but need everything"...and most of what they have is usually junk, pitted, broken or not original. I know a lot of guys think Redfish boats are cool but they just don't do it for me. I'm "only" 175 miles away but it's just not worth it to me to buy it on spec and then store it until somebody wants it restored...if ever.

In a weak moment I almost called. WTF was I thinking? My Playmaster is not done. It is easier to dream in front of computer then actually doing it. But that said......I swore I would never buy another junker....but.....All those mistakes I learned about....bet I could get her done in a few weeks!!!LOL !!!
