Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.“

Someone who knows how to can probably extract your photos and documents. I know my guy saved my old Dell from a nasty virus. We used it for about three years after. It still works but both the CD and DVD drives won't work.

I thought all boating people carried a box of spare parts.
On my Computer I "Backup" periodically. I use a "ScanDisk" for my smaller data files & a Removable Hard Drive for the large Files. If a file is changed the old file can be over written. They're both removable so when the computer does crash they're not affected.
My removable HD can be programmed to backup on a Daily, Weekly or Monthly basis. Of course then it must be left plugged in.

Guess we're old fashioned. I have a desktop with a mouse, my Girl Friend has a laptop, but She got a mouse for it too.
