TOPIC: Chop Gun pictures

Chop Gun pictures 7 years 9 months ago #129927

Hi,

I'm writing a book examining the history of the Boston Whaler company and looking for some help. The book is going to rely on a lot of images/drawings to help support the narrative. One of the images I'm looking to track down is a photo of an old chop gun, preferably from the 1950s or 1960s.

If anyone has any leads or ideas, please get in touch.

Thanks,
Matthew Plunkett

The OP is probably referring to a Chopper Gun.. Chopper Guns are commonly used in many types of fiberglass manufacturing, including low cost entry level boats..

Here's a link to a video of a chopper gun being used to layup glass in a mold for a fiberglass tank.. The resin & hardener are fed into the gun by a hose and are mixed at the nozzle, the fiberglass roving is fed in to the top of the gun where it is chopped and sprayed out with the catalyzed resin..

Hope this helps..
