water running sleds is not new up here in Minnesota. they have contests for over 25 years. there are 2 brothers from wis, I think there name is Makie , but not sure. but they had a record of 16 plus miles on a river. I'll see if I can find more info on them. frog

In the 70's at Siren, WI they had water skipping context every year. A contest for distance, on a 1000' open channel and a contest to see how many drunks, I mean people on a sled could cross the channel. Pretty funny to watch 6 or 8 people on an old Scorpion try, fail and walk to shore. Fun until the sleds were so good no one sank. Now Grantsburg, WI has a road course they race on the water with sleds. They can go until they run out of gas. Amazing to watch.

Just south of me at Jump River Wis. every year they run sleds from the bar (the G spot) upstream about 3/8 of a mile to the end of the park. It's really cool watching them weave between the snow and ice covered rocks in the fast river current. Some make it and some do not.

Would it be a safe bet to say that none of the participants are over 40 years??

Ya nothing but young bucks rattling horns, but fun to watch. lol
