TOPIC: 1958 MFG Cambridge with Evinrude Big Twin 35 hp

Newbies excited to be here. This forum is a real educator for us. Great history. Recently purchased a 1958 MFG Cambridge 15'as a father/son project. Everything is original, including the gator trailer. We took a shot at the motor but had to turn it over to a pro to overhaul. We have no restoration experience and plan to bother you all with a lot of questions. We tried to send a bunch of pictures with no success. We will try again next post.

1. What do you recommend we use to clean and treat the fiberglass hull? There is some yellowing and other stains.

2. The wood is in pretty good shape except for the transom and the mahogany veneer on the front deck. We have removed the hardware and are in the process of sanding. We could use detailed instructions for mahogany restoration (we want to save it). I called Sandusky Paint company. They recommend filling gouges and cracks with Famowood Mahogany putty-then sand, followed by Chris Craft Mahogany filler stain (shooting for red mahogany look), followed by 4 coats of spar varnish. Your thoughts?
