TOPIC: Transom help

Hey guys has post way back and can't seem to find it so I will start a new one own a 84 mfg caprice 165 merc inline 6 with mc1 outdrive bowrider that had some transom problems looked like one of the bolts leaked and yeah u know the rest so I have the transom all out and I am preparing to put the new one in. So my problem I traced the transom cut the wood and went for a dry fit and it won't go in any suggestions on maybe doin it in more then one solid peice or am I gonna have to take the cap off thanks for the help

Can you upload some pictures? Those will help a ton.

Taking the cap off is always an option but I'd avoid if you can.

If you have to break up your board into a few pieces, you'll want to layer it so you get a nice, strong, and even pressured fit.

I'm a great believer in poured transoms (CarbonCore CarbonBond or Seacast) -rather than using wood again.

Dave Nau - 1966 MFG Niagara with 1963 Mercury 350 (35hp) outboard and 1966 Tee Nee trailer. Second boat is a 1962 MFG Edinboro with a 1984 Evinrude 70hp and Holsclaw trailer.

It won't let me post anymore I compressed them down to nothing I would love to do a pour in but bigest problem is that I need the boat for my honeymoon so trying to get it done before the 2nd of October also trying to do this on about 4 hours a night lol yeah I know far fetched but gotta try thanks guys for all the help
