Finally got the Sweet Sixteen in the water after 4 years in the garage due to illnes.
Fired up after 5minuts pulling, ran a bit ruff.
But what the heck, 4 years in garage.
Launching put it in drive and of we went.
But what the heck, didn`t rew up at all, stalling.
And sounds like a mill in the newly ren loower unit, all new bearings, seals oil and so on.
Pull it up and in to the garage, lifted the front and wrap, and discovered a loose spark wire, shame on me.
And had to adjust the idle/speed cable on the outside pan.
Really hope that the oil is the issue of the noicy unit, used regular oil according to the marine dealer.
Read some where that a thicker oil is preferable.
All the best

Another fault discovered, the prop was not thightened.
The single inner washer was not enough, had to put two washer so that the propcone could thighten properly.
Looking forward the testing tomorrow, if the weather is ok.

Yess, rewing up nicely.
No sounds from the gearhouse, prop thighten hard.
BUT, the slow speed is flexing up and down depending if it`s been running fast or sloow.
Tried to adjust it on the idle screw, no better.
Theere are so many way to gety around this problem that are driving me nuts.
Please advice me, another testdrive tomorrow.

make sure you have the splined washer on in front of the prop. adjust the carbs first.

Discovered that if I turn the alternator a bit furter the idle goes down.
Is it possible to put a retainer on the alternator that pull it a bit furter to loow idle?

Sten, try this thread from the support column, it's got some good info on pic sizing.

www.fiberglassics.com/glassic-forums/support/pic-sizing

Also, to post multiple pics in one post = put the first pic in and make the post. Then immediately "edit" the post to add another. This can be done as many times as you wish.

Many of the older Mercs had grease fittings (zerks) on the distribtor/magneto mount bearings, have you tried shooting a little grease into them, (if yours has them)?

the throttle /mag actuator arm should have a hole in it already

if I run into a stiffer linkage mag tower, whatever and its not mine to tear apart I hook them to the cowl holes if there
