TOPIC: merc 500 classic distrbutor

Hello, My Mercury Dealer tells me that my1975 Merc 500 Classic 50 h.p. needs a new distrbutor and that they don't make them any more.
The engine has ran well up until now. Has good compression and low hours.
Are there rebuilds out there or can I attempt a simple fix?

It's the Mercury 500 with Thunderbolt ignition.

Good engine, but the best thing you can really do for yourself is to find a donor engine with a good distributor for parts, lots around and it will be far cheaper in the long run.
