hello I think I have an serious problem. I'm helping my friend with his merc only out of the cooling hose there is not spitting water but exhaust gasses out. Did someone had this problem before or does someone now what the problem please help

do the water pump. and pull the powerhead and check the water inlet tube they close up if overheated there is a plastic washer at the top that melts.

pulled the block and exhaust apart but can't find the water inlet tube maybe someone has an picture of what i'm looking for. I laready checked the a side panel of exhaust and it was completely full of corosion cleaned that up and now I only have tp check the water inlet tube thanks for the quik reply's

if you took the powerhead out as an assembly then you will see a copper tube running down the leg behind the driveshaft.the plastic is on top of the water tube.it is quite obvious.
