TOPIC: 1985 Glastron ssv151 Prop

Ok i was told this was the best site for help with glastrons so here i am. I bought a 1985 glastron ssv151 with a mercury inline 6 90 hp. Does anyone know what pitch prop should be on this boat. It currently has a 16pitch. ive been told it should have a 19 or 21. Any help would be greatly appreciated

use a tach and the rpms should be about 5300rpm's. each 1in change in pitch is about 250-300 rpm change.

The question is are you going for speed or power? Pulling a tube? or trying to break a speed record?

SSV151 isn't very heavy. The 90hp inline's powerband is "in the basement", and pitching it up and lugging it actually makes it happier! Merc mechanic that loved these says prop it for 5000 RPM on top end, says try the 21 with at least three people in the boat and shoot for 4900-5100 top RPM. This RPM range with three people will give you the best everything prop for the motor. Good luck.

BTW, I seem to remember a pic of that motor pulling a record number of skiers, I think at Cypress Gardens- besting a few V-6 motors!!!
