TOPIC: 1961 700 wrap

1961 700 wrap 14 years 6 months ago #6632

Hey guys:

Does anyone have a picture of a engine wrap for a 1961 Merc 700. I am re-storing one and want to make sure the paint scheme is correct.

Thanks

Darrell

IMHO All those pics look like my 62 700. My 61 700 looks like the one on this site ....Tom

Thanks guys.

I knew they were different than the 62 wraps. I did see the picture on East Coast I was hoping for a close up.

Are the stripes painted white on them and the rest all black?

Sorry about being so picky! I want to make sure the motor looks like it did new.

Darrell

By the way really nice pictures of the 62's!

I believe the "stripes" are actually bare metal, as in void of any paint. Frank recently repainted his wrap, let me post the link below that explains how in detail.

No apologies necessary for attention to detail here, Darrell!

I wonder if this 700FGS is a 1961 model??
I forgot about it until I saw some of the other posts that showed this style face plate.
I can't get to the serial number plate without lifting the beast up and away from the wall, but if some one recognizes this one as a '61 let Darrell know please.
