Hey guys, I was wondering if there was an optional power tilt available for this motor and also would it have a generator or alternator standard to maintain the battery. Reason for the questions is if by chance I was to get this motor and install it on one of my boats, I'm used to power tilt on the johnsons. It'll spoil you.lol

I have a mid section off of an 850 that is already set up with the brackets and hydraulic tilt rams. I have used hoses as well as motor/reservoir. So to answer your question yes it can be done. As far as charging the battery what is under the cowl now?? The tilt and trim on mercs were way better than the old OMC units. The draw is not that much.

Jim,as far as the charging system' I don't see one. So you tell me,I could be missing something on this. You asked me the other day about the cowl insulation being melted from overheating so here's some more.. Why are some people so stupid as to leave an engine outside with the cowl off for a long time? dumb arses

I retro-fitted a mid-80's merc PTT Unit onto my '62 1000. The steering arm on the PTT clears the Pan, and the shift shaft slides unobstructed through the PTT unit. Still work in progress, but am hopeful that it will work out.

Here's a dual-ram PT&T conversion by Dr. Frankenmerc:

Do the older dual ram set ups allow the motor to bounce up if it hits something, as does the original 'reverse lock out' set ups? Or is the motor pinned in place by the rams?

The only thing that gives me pause for swithing over to a PTT set up like mine is that should I ride over that submerged log, she'll not bounce up-and-over but rather take a big big hit (and I've seen examples of the damage fromn that)

reverse locks are not used. the swivel bracket SHOULD be changed tio 65 or latter they are stronger merc would not sign off on them before 65.they will work but keep an eye on them for fatigue.
