My gut reaction is no. Not because of the different brands but because of the different ignitions. A 1985 OMC engine would be some form of electronic ignition. I am guessing your 1969 Merc has conventional (points) ignition? If so even to make a Merc tach work from that era, you needed a module between engine and tach.
