Does anyone know what the part number is for the driveshaft housing to power head? I pulled the power head and ripped the gasket so I would like to order a fresh one.

Evan, I got mine form these folks, but I can't figure out which one is yours. Seems to me I called them. I have a spare, but no # on it. Because they were inexpensive, when I got one, I ordered 2.

Damn, I left the serial number at home. If memory serves it was about a 63' model year.

Frank, thanks for the information.

This begs the question; What gaskets need replacement since it is apart? I am such an outboard noob that I am not sure.

1965 is the year of the Merc 900 in 66 they went to the 950.
Like I said in the e-mail you should replace the exhaust housing to intermediate housing gasket as well as the block to the exhaust housing. Really since you have it sort of apart you should have a complete gasket kit and do them all then also replace the seals in the end caps.
Anyway I have your part numbers when you are ready

Guys, Jim rightfully pointed me twoards a full gasket kit from oldmercs.com so I am going to go ahead and tear it apart to reseal everything while it is already on my bench.

Forgot something, how do I know what the torque specs are?

By the manual from them when you order the gaskets. They have one that covers that year and model.
