Lower unit is on my bench, I want to disassemble and inspect the whole thing. I was able to get the threaded ring removed, but I can't get it any further apart. I actually cracked the casting of the internal piece (gearbox?). My lower unit is in pretty rough shape, bad electrolysis. Ideally I will replace it.

I would like to take it apart though. Any help?

I put the powerhead back on the DSH last night. This thing wieghs a metric ton with the mariner trim/tilt setup on it.

Nevermind, I went ahead and ordered the seloc manual.

Anyone near Madison WI have a good gearcase or lower unit sitting around?

See if the attached pictures help.

What serial number is your 900?
I would like to see what I might have in my heaps of lower units that would be correct for your application.
I'm probably too far away to make if feesible, but :-)

Hey Doc, great pictures!

I actually welded up something for my slide hammer as well. Unfortunately not before I cracked a piece of the bearing carrier loose. Heating the housing and the slide hammer worked, I had to really roughhouse with it though.

Serial of my motor is 1767373, can you tell me what year it is?

Thanks!

Thanks Thom! I have a line on a new bearing carrier so I am just going to replace that along with some new seals and spraybomb.
