I have a 1961 Kiekhaefer Merc. 400 with a bad carb #KA9AT. Actually, all I really need is the top piece #010738. Hope somebody can help. Thanks!

There are quite a few varieties that will work, but this looks to be the correct one.
The casting number is one off, but it appears to be one for the '60 400-4 cyl.

Thank you both. I just spent the last two days in the hospital. I'm not up to going down in the shop quite yet but should be able to check numbers and take photos tomorrow. Thanks for your help. I'll get back to you.

Feeling better tonight so I took some photos. Here's a shot of the carb with top removed showing the piece I need:

The fuel lines were original and when I needed to shove one of them aside to install the starter, it snapped in half like raw macaroni. All the fuel lines were like that. In the process or replacing them, I broke off the cone when I tightened the screws on the top cap. I tried to epoxy it just for the hell of it. Waste of time. I don't need the whole carb, just the piece shown here, #010738:

Jan,
The part you need is common on lots of other model Mercs too, so if you have any other old Mercs laying around that used the "filter silo" like in the picture I put in a previous post ,...You probably already have what you need.
Basically,...If the part you seek has Tillotson cast onto it they will just use a different needle & seat kit than the ones with MercCarb cast onto it.
The Tillotsons use a Sierra Marine needle & seat # 18-7057, while the MercCarb uses an 18-7061 kit, because of a different thread for the brass seat.
I "think" there were a few early MercCarb tops from around 1970 that used the 18-7057, so just be careful to compare the threads on the seat to the threads in the aluminum top.

Thanks for the info Doc but I'm generally just an inboard engine guy. I have zero outboard parts. I'm just converting this Merc to be able to start with a starter. So...I still need that carb part if anybody has one they are willing to sell.
