The flywheel on my Mark 55 broke and I rebuilt that but I'm having trouble identifying the piece in the pictures. It's where the top cowling bolts into. Any ideas for a part number? I tried searching on Marine Engine but didn't have any luck.

Bushing 26348 like the one on the other ear. the metal ring is part of the original one. must be removed to install a new one.

Hard to believe they still stock that NLA bushing! I'd imagine you'd have to either press it out, or cut the remaining steel outer sleeve in half and extract the bits. Have never seen a bad bushing in all my yrs working on these! Best be very careful removing and installing, so as to not break offthe ear. That would tend to ruin your day!!

Thanks for the ID Dave! I agree Ed, I'll go after it carefully. What do you guys think is the best way to get the old one out? Try tapping it out or should I drill it out (leaving a safe distance from the metal of course)?

Dremel or modified hacksaw blade then cut a slit from the inside. collaps it . when installing the new one support the earand tap it in to start then I use vice grips to finish.

Yeah, scoring the sleeve is probably the safest way to get it out. Another way to press-in the new bushing is to use a bolt, with washers on both ends & a nut, and pull the bushing into the ear. This would impose very little stress on the ear itself.
