TOPIC: '57 MK30 finished

This was a good running outboard when I bought it 5 years ago. 4 years ago I took it all apart ( not the powerhead ) 2 years later it was packed up and we moved. Finely got it together. It fired up and idled right from the start. Going to my best friend so it will still be in the family. These things are a real job but well worth the effort to see them run.
Now I start in on one of my 400's

Almost had to call you Dave. There were no timing marks on anything. But I got it. Turned the mag until #1 wire shocked me, noted that position, dial indicated #1 tdc. Spun it with the timing light, had to back off the cog belt one notch and it all fell in place. Set the max adv at about 3 degree's back from max , and called it good.

On the belt drive timing is easy. bring top #1 cyl to TDC. then on the mag drive gear there is { hard to see} but ther on one of the spokes is an arrow. point it at the crank slide belt on . finished. all belt driven 4's & 6's . don't worry about the marks on the flywheel. or the belt cover
