Nice morning for a 63.0mph run on Lake Crescent. I shot 13 short videos of various runs, most over 60mph, hit 63 two times, this is one of those times.

24" small eared chopper at just over 5700rpm.

Sorry about the poor sound quality, the mic cord came loose.

This is the 1961 800 Frankenmerc that Doc built. He shoehorned in a 1000 power head with solid state ignition, etc. An absolute BEAST!

Pete

Here is a short video showing the boat at the dock.

Thanks, both videos were filmed on Lake Crescent in the very northwest part of Washington State. It's a fairly isolated lake, about 600' deep and cold. It's the closest lake for me and I'm usually the only boat out. Rivals Tahoe for clarity in my opinion.

Thanks Doc! This boat design/engine configuration really works well together - both in style and performance! Much better than I could have ever have imagined when I started building her.

Pete

BTW - I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been thinking about what the boat would do with the Monster Merc!

That was awesome! I missed the posting because I was in Alaska and didn't see it on my tablet.

That lake was just like a mirror. It's eerie driving on a lake like that and if you really want to freak someone out, have them ski on a glassy lake, first run before the boat ripples-up the lake. The reflections really mess with your head. It's like carrying a large bathroom mirror with the reflective side facing you, talk about Vertigo!

I remember a cool fall day back in the 80's on a glassy-smooth Tiger Lake when I ran my old Fiberform up to 50 with the old Merc. But you have a much better performing hull, I expect lighter, too, with power trim, jacked-up, and excellent running prop. Amazing what some fine-tuning can do.

That must have been a very exhilarating run, to say the least!
