Question for you Merc guys. Would cornhead grease be good in trailer wheel bearings since it has excellent water repelling properties?
I have a full tube of the stuff and no old Merc lower units to use it on.

I would say Yes . just make sure you clean stuff up and not mix greases.

I dont usually disagree with my pal Dave B but i would on this one. High pressure grease is needed for wheelbearings. Corn head grease is designed to go liquid under pressure, exactly the opposite thst a wheelbearing needs.

Remember, my opinion in no way diminishes your opinion, nor yours mine. Collectively, there is a middle ground that is \\\"correct\\\" for the reader balancing all the input.

NOOOOOO please don't say that. Just cleaned and put the grease in this past weekend, now I have to do it all over again

After searching the net I'm finding that all grease liquefies under heat and pressure, it's just a mixture of soap and heavy oil.
Things to look for with improper grease would be the ooze coming from the bearing caps.
Here's a link from Popular Mechanics that helps with my problem.
