TOPIC: Port-side helm

I've often pondered how I could alter a starboard side control handle for the early '60s 'oval' control box so that it would look sexier than the common use of the starboard side handle, that really looks 'wrong'.
Master Ed-Mc discovered this seemingly rare handle for use with a port-side helm when using the early '60s "oval" Merc control box.
It looks a lot better IMHO.

For my opinion, they are quite rare, and especially so in new old stock. We however do have two or three NOS ones ourselves.

Sorry for my ignorance. I just want to learn a little more... if someone were setting up a twin rig, did they mirror opposite arm levers that would follow the same geometry? The picture looks like good functioning single throttle for a port or starboard application, but doesn't look like those 2 would marry symmetrically for a twin rig. Am I miss understanding this or did they cast a 3rd arm or box for twins?

yes they did. came with 2 handles and spacer for the 2 boxes. to make things more complicated there were also long and short left and right handles. short being hard to find.

Thanks. I could see the value of a good paddle if I was trying to dock or trailer twin "dockbusters"...maybe a large zodiac would be a good boat for twin dockbusters so when I got confused, it would turn into a large bumper boat. They are pretty stylish looking.
