TOPIC: Steering adapter for old merc to new Teleflex?

I just got off the phone from both Thom Adams aka Dr. Frankenmerc and Joe Poole of Ferguson-Poole Inc. I want to put one of my older motors on a newer steering system. They both described the adapter that Mercury developed all those years ago, the set that mounts onto the existing Tilt Tube. This is a brilliant solution, the one problem is that they don't make them any more. They both hear rumors of folks making them, maybe some Nos pieces laying about, but nothing solid. They are both checking for me but I thought I would put out a call and see who knows. Thom thought that maybe Metalhed might have an answer?
Thanks in advance, below are pics of 1) the existing set-up on the 1967 Wacanda (note, the next motor is a short shaft) 2) The set-up I have on the Custom Craft (there was no room on the transom for this adapter as the splashwell was set too shallow)(the adapter is a WestWind 160 Tejon, I would love to find another one), 3) The Mark 78 to be placed on the Wacanda and 4)The good Doctor himself.

I have one of the mounts in the pic with the red merc.
it should be mounted under the thumb screws it has recess's for that.

I will take it, I will call you tomorrow Dave, thanks. The reason it is mounted in this funky way is that the guy who finished the boat made it for a longshaft and made the splashwell too shallow. Then cut a big hole that really does nothing. Sigh...
