Well the Carlson with the 1250 broke 65mph today on the lake. :D I threw that tiny tach away and got a faria tach that worked. Here were the numbers.

The 25 pitch cleaver ran 63mph @ 6200 Had more ran out of water pressure. GPS

The 26 pitch cleaver ran 65-66mph @59-6000 had a pinch more I think. GPS

So it was a good day 1-2 mph wind, not many boats out and 62 degrees.

Im happy 65 is fast enough to make it fun each time I let it rip. Complete concentration, one wake and Im busted :x It cruizes at 60 mph pretty nice :D

Ill try to raise the motor up a pinch next time, I think that will gain me another 1 mph. Right now its 5.25 inches off the transom.

Brilliant Conrad - bet you had your killcord on this time!

Are you on foot throttle or hand? Foot would be safer methinks, I use one on my Stapely & you can back off sooo much faster than with a standard hand controller, at these sort of speeds it can make all the difference in my book. I run just under 60mph (GPS) with a wooden 16' 6" deep vee (see avatar) & an '84 115, more to come if I play with the height etc. but I need the boat to be able to turn fast, tight & safe so I am loath to raise the motor too much more. It gets used in bumpy salt water a lot & spends quite a bit of time airbourne!!

Congrats Conrad, sounds like a "hair raising hoot"! (I'll leave the high speed stuff to you guys, thanks.) Have you posted any pics of the Carlson here?
