Well, I bought a genuine Frankenmerc last October, and have been breaking her in the last 4 months. Shot this video on our first real sunny day in a while. Have 7 hours on the break in, so no outright speed runs yet, but the acceleration is phenomenal!

1000 powerhead on a short shaft, rebuilt from the needle bearings up with lots of mods. An absolute beast and fun as hell! The short shaft handles much better than the long shaft and looks better too. A real sleeper!

Video is a bunch of shorter clips clumsily edited together and rather long, but the scenery is spectacular. Lake Sutherland out on the Olympic Peninsula, WA.

I just can't thank Thom enough for his help, advice and guidance in setting this Bad Boy up!

Great stuff Pete, thanks for sharing. There's nothing quite like having a "white knight" mounted on your transom, congrats on getting her set up like she should be!

Thanks for the ride Pete, a beautiful boat and motor on a mountain lake is way cool. The scenery is magnificent.
I will be watching for your speed runs.
Stay safe, Gene

Mark, Gene - thanks for watching and for commenting! I wanted to show off the motor and really showcase the fine craftsmanship that Doc achieved with this Bad Boy, but I forgot the external microphone and couldn't capture the roar  That being said, she does run like a Swiss watch and when revved up, has a deep throaty growl that is awe inspiring!

Robby - the weather looks so good on Thursday that I'm thinking of taking a half day vacation just to be able to run the Beast without a coat!! If it's warm enough, I may try for a top speed run :woohoo:

I loved the video! Thanks...I am more than happy to watch another one...what boater ever gets tired of a nice rig, calm water, beautiful mountains and "time on the water" with your (second) best friend (first best would be my significant other of course since my first mate loves boating as well). That video is motivation for me to get back in the garage!!

Love that Merc and natural wood look - Wow to all who made that rig come together!! I Vote for you taking that half day Vacation!!

I am happy that you finally put a short shaft on that boat. It really screamed for one.

Awesome!

I put a video in the main forum, in the thread Glassic Videos showing some high speed runs - 55+mph now on GPS. The engine sounds BadA**!!!
