Took the boat out today and a friend shot some great video of the motor trimmed out. Four passes cobbled together into one amateurish attempt at a composite/edited video; first 3 passes varied from 50-51mph, last pass at 40mph. Love these old Mercs!

A IL6 at full song, a Harley at idle, and any Nitro motor!

Certain "noise" to live for!

How ya doing Robby? It was a great day on the water! My cowl doesn't have the sound deadening material, makes for a symphony of sound!

Hi Mark,

Thanks for looking. I've waited months (ever since I launched her) to actually see a video of her underway, couldn't resist posting.

Very cool. I like the look of the big tall mercury on the long skinny boat. Is the motor souped up in any way? What prop are you running to go that fast?

Hey JimmyJack - Thanks for the compliment. I had that motor in mind when I chose to build that design - thought the package looked cool. It's a stock motor, but I did have new pistons put in.

The prop in this video is a 22" pitch small eared chopper. Top speed this spring was 52.7mph on the GPS. I think the boat's light weight and padded bottom contribute to the speed.
