TOPIC: More Pics Jetabout Cable

Here are some more pictures of the steering cable from my Jetabout. Hopefully someone here will recognize it. It does have Kiekhaefer stamped on the rack.

Great luck today. I put an ad in Craigslist asking if anyone had a cable some weeks ago. Yesterday I renewed the ad and a guy called me. He had my exact cable with the rack and sold it to me for $40.

Thanks, I was finding cables out there but most were going for $150-$200.
Does anyone know if the cable can be removed from the rack? My rack looks brand new and this one looks pretty weathered. I'd like to just swap out the cable if at all possible.

Pretty sure you can, I looked into it for mine. As i understand it, the wheel bolt goes through the entire length of the helm to the rack, so once that is unscrewed, it disengages at the rack. Then take apart the rack and replace cable. So basically you are taking the whole thing apart, but as long as the same era Ride Guide, should be OK. I have a diagram at home I'll post tonight. A lot of parts in between wheel and rack.
